How Matt Rebuilt His Nutrition, Confidence, and Energy After Mounjaro

When Matt first reached out, he’d already made progress with his health — losing weight through Mounjaro and exercise — but he knew something was missing. He wanted to go beyond the short-term results and truly understand how to manage his nutrition for the long haul.

“I recognised that my education around food and nutrients was poor. I’d lost weight but had no idea how to fuel properly for my training or maintain it once I came off the jab.”

After spotting me via a David Lloyd re-share and realising we were both Houlton locals, Matt decided to invest in learning what actually works — not quick fixes.

From Chaos to Control

Before coaching, Matt described his approach to food as “chaotic.” Meals were inconsistent, emotional eating was common, and portion sizes were all over the place.

Through our work together, he’s completely changed how he thinks about nutrition — swapping guesswork for structure and understanding.

“The biggest shift has been learning to plan my food rather than live in chaos. I’ve realised I don’t need to live in a calorie deficit to stay in shape — I can eat well, fuel properly, and maintain a healthy weight.”

Eating More, Worrying Less

One of Matt’s biggest wins was overcoming the fear of eating more.

When he started, he was consuming around 1,600 calories per day and worried that increasing intake would undo his progress. With tailored coaching, he gradually built up to 2,400 calories — fuelling his training, improving recovery, and maintaining his weight between 88–90kg, rather than rebounding as he’d feared.

“My weight has remained solid even though I’m eating far more than I used to. That’s been the most powerful lesson — eating more doesn’t mean losing control.”

Tools That Made a Difference

Matt found accountability check-ins, educational resources, and practical guidance on fuelling for running and social events (like managing alcohol) especially valuable.

“It’s been exactly what I needed — the right nudge, the right support, and proper help with food and fuelling. The running and alcohol packs really helped me think differently.”

Stage 2: Living It

As he transitions into this next phase, Matt’s taking what he’s learned and applying it to everyday life. He’s not “done” — he’s building long-term habits that stick.

“We set out to achieve a few things and I feel like we’ve started that process well. I’m not the finished product, but I’m now educated and heading in the right direction. That’s Stage 1 — Stage 2 is embedding it.”

Matt’s story is proof that long-term results don’t come from restriction — they come from understanding your body, fuelling it properly, and having the right support.

“Be prepared to change. If you know what you’re aiming for, Paul will help build the structure around it — and keep you accountable to the goal.”
